1. LOCATION
Lakeside Golf Course in Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge. The course is North of Fort Dodge on Highway P59 (formerly413). Approximately two miles North of the Fort Dodge Airport and Harlan Rogers Park. Maps of the Fort Dodge Area were included with team information sheets mailed to qualifiers.
2. TIME SCHEDULE
12:30 p.m. -- Class 1A Girls'
12:50 p.m. -- Class 2A Girls'
1:10 p.m. -- Class 3A Girls'
1:40 p.m. -- Class 1A Boys'
2:05 p.m. -- Class 2A Boys'
2:35 p.m. -- Class 3A Boys'
3:00 p.m. -- Awards Ceremony
The course is not open to participating schools prior to the day of the meet. The course will be monitored on Friday, October 27 and any teams that are on the golf course will be eliminated from the Saturday competition.
3. MEET MANAGER
The State Cross Country meet manager is Don Miller, Athletic Director, Fort Dodge High School.
4. INFORMATION TO PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS
On Friday, October 20, the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls' High School Athletic Union mailed complete meet instructions to all schools qualifying individuals or teams to the state meet. This information included course maps, parking information and passes. Also additional meet information and a list of qualifiers and their starting positions was included. The starting positions and qualifiers are also listed on this web site.
5. STARTING POSITIONS
The starting positions were drawn by lot for the 2000 State Cross Country Meet. The boxes are numbered from RIGHT to LEFT as the runners face the course. Individuals were drawn by lot following the districts. No more than three individuals are assigned to a box, which enables all to have a front row start.
6. SUBSTITUTION
Substitution is allowed between the district and state meet for qualifying teams. No substitutes are allowed for individual qualifiers. Team members are numbered and listed in the program in the order of their finish in the district meet. Any substitutes or spelling changes should be reported to IGHSAU or IHSAA personnel in the Club House following your packet pickup.
7. AWARDS
The top two teams in each division will receive trophies. Medals will be given to members of the top four teams and to the top ten individuals as outlined below.
BOYS'--All participants in the race are eligible for individual awards.
GIRLS'--Only those girls' teams qualifying for individual championship by placing in top seven at District competition are eligible for the top ten individual awards.
8. SCORING
BOYS' -- Finishers assigned score by final place in race (1=1, 50=50, etc). The team score shall be determined by totaling the points scored by the first five finishers of each team. The team which scores the least number of points is the winner. Replacement scoring is not used, except in the case of disqualification.
GIRLS' -- Finishers assigned score by final place in race (1=1, 50=50, etc). The team score shall be determined by totaling the points scored by the first five (four in Class 1A) finishers of each team. The team which scores the least number of points is the winner. Replacement scoring is not used, except in the case of disqualification.
TEAM TIE BREAKERS--Ties in team scoring shall be resolved by comparing the sixth place finisher (fifth in 1A Girls') from the tying teams. The team with the highest sixth/fifth finisher shall prevail. If one team does not have the extra finisher, the team with the sixth/fifth finisher shall prevail.
In the event that only five competitors (four in 1A Girls') competitors from the tying teams finish, the tie shall be resolved by totaling the scores of the first four/three finishers.
