Advisory
Committee Information and Application
Advisory committees serve as a liaison between
coaches and officials from throughout the state and IGHSAU Board of
Directors. Committees are
comprised of varsity coaches and one official (non-voting) and chaired by an
athletic director. Each member may
serve one four-year term.
Committees are strictly advisory in nature. Rules, concerns, complaints,
ideas, etc. are discussed during committee meetings. From discussions, the committee makes recommendations to the
Board of Directors for its consideration.
An advisory committee exists for each of the ten
sports. The cross country and track & field advisory
committees are joint committees with equal coaching representation from
the IGHSAU and the Iowa High School Athletic Association. Typically, the
committee will meet once a year following the respective state tournament. The meeting is held at the State Office
(the joint committees alternate every other year between the IGHSAU and IHSAA)
during a weekday and commences at 10:00 a.m. Each member attending the meeting will be paid mileage.
If you are interested in serving on an advisory
committee, download the application from the IGHSAU website, complete the form
and submit it to Mike Dick, Associate Director via e-mail: advisory@ighsau.org. Deadline for the
application is June 1 for the 2008-09 school year.
