IGHSAU Online Officials Registration Information for the 2012-13 School Year

 

Officials – Please read this entire section, as many requirements have changed or been clarified.  Thank you!

 

REGISTRATION FEES

Iowa officials - $45 for one sport.  Each additional sport is $12.

High school students - $10 per sport.

Out-of-state officials - $20 reciprocity.

 

A $10 LATE FEE WILL BE ASSESSED FOR LATE REGISTRATION FOR 2012-13 VOLLEYBALL, SWIMMING & DIVING, AND BASKETBALL AFTER MAY 31, 2012. 

 

A $10 LATE WILL BE ASSESSED FOR LATE REGISTRATION FOR 2012-13 TRACK & FIELD, SOCCER, AND SOFTBALL AFTER JANUARY 15, 2013.

*The late fee does not apply to out-of-state officials or high school officials.

 

 

REGISTRATION DATES AND DEADLINES:
Officials are urged to complete the IGHSAU officialÕs registration process, including payment of the registration fee, by the due date to ensure receipt of materials for each sport as scheduled.

Our registration period for the 2011-2012 school year was March 1, 2010 through May 31, 2010. This covered all sports beginning with 2011 volleyball and ending with 2012 summer softball. RE-REGISTRATIONS FOR THE 2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR ARE NOW CONSIDERED LATE AND WILL OWE THE LATE FEE OF $10.  EXCEPTION: IF YOU DID NOT REGISTER FOR 2010-2011, ARE A NEW REGISTER, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, OR OUT-OF-STATE OFFICIAL, YOU WILL NOT OWE THE LATE FEE.


There are two registration periods for the 2012-2013 school year:

 

March 1, 2012 - May 31, 2012 for volleyball, swimming & diving, and basketball.

 

November 1, 2012 – January 15, 2013 for track & field, soccer, and softball.

Method of payment can be VISA, Mastercard, or E-check.

The online registration process, testing, rules meetings, regional/state tournament officialsÕ assignments, and officialsÕ observer reports are now housed on the IGHSAU Central Hub –
www.ighsau.arbitersports.com.  Please keep your personal information up to date on the Central Hub.  You can update your mailing address, email address, phone numbers, and personal photo by clicking on ÒMy AccountÓ on the Central Hub.  Remember to click ÒSaveÓ after making any changes. 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS AND RANKING SYSTEM
EFFECTIVE FOR THE 2012-13 SCHOOL YEAR

 

1. RULES MEETINGS - ALL OFFICIALS must attend or view an online IGHSAU rules meeting EVERY YEAR in each sport in which you are registered.  Your ArbiterSports user name and password is required to view the online meetings on the IGHSAU Central Hub. You will receive an email confirmation upon completion of the online rules meeting.  Rules meetings are also offered as part of IGHSAU-sponsored officialsÕ clinics.  An official who does not complete a rules meeting will not be allowed to officiate during that respective sport season.

 

2. EXAM - ALL OFFICIALS must pass the online IGHSAU examination EVERY YEAR in each sport in which you are registered beginning with the 2011-12 school year.  The exams will be available on the IGHSAU Central Hub.  A passing score of 75% or higher is required.  You will be given 3 opportunities each season to achieve this passing score.  An official who does not successfully complete the exam will not be allowed to officiate during that respective sport season.

 

3. CLINICS

Basketball, Softball, & Volleyball Officials – NEW OFFICIALS within 3 years of their initial registration must attend an

IGHSAU-sponsored clinic.  If you have not done so, you will then be ranked as a "Non-Varsity" (NV) official beginning your third year when you have met the exam and rules meeting requirements.  All basketball, softball, and volleyball officials who desire to be tournament eligible must attend a clinic within a 3-year period.  Officials may register for clinics on the IGHSAU Central Hub.

 

4. REGIONAL/STATE TOURNAMENT ASSIGNMENTS – Officials (INCLUDING OUT OF STATE OFFICIALS) who wish to be considered for regional and state tournament assignments must do the following for each sport in which they wish to be considered each year:

1.               View or attend a rules meeting

2.      Pass IGHSAU exam on the IGHSAU Central Hub with a score of 75% or greater

3.      Indicate desire to work regional/state tournament on IGHSAU Central Hub

4.      Submit regular season officiating schedule and manage Blocks on IGHSAU Central Hub

5.   For BASKETBALL, SOFTBALL, & VOLLEYBALL, attend an IGHSAU-sponsored clinic once every three years

IHSAA

Please contact the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) to register for baseball, football, boys' basketball, boys' track, boys' swimming, boys' soccer, and wrestling.


AFFILIATE REGISTRATION IN OTHER STATES
Reciprocity Agreement: Officials registered (and living) in Iowa wishing to work in Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Missouri or Illinois are to contact that State's Association office. Special rates are set because of the reciprocal agreement involving Iowa. Officials are required to send a photocopy of their 2011-2012 or 2012-2013 IGHSAU Officials Registration page when applying to one of these states.
