Golf Scorekeeping and State Tournament Format

 

The Athletic Union Board of Directors voted unanimously to require scorekeepers for every group during district, regional and state tournament play beginning in 2009. It also recommends the use of scorekeepers during the 2008 tournament series.

The Board voted to have each class play all 36 holes during the state tournament at the same course, to ease concerns related to practice round access and cost. In 2008, Class 1A and 2A will play both rounds at the American Legion course in Marshalltown, while Class 3A and 4A will play both rounds at Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown. The classes will switch courses in 2009.

Tie-breakers for medalist honors at the state championship meet will be determined by a sudden-death playoff. Ties for other than medalist will be broken by a card-back, which is unchanged from the current procedure.
