Ankeny Duo Repeats
in State Co-ed Golf
Alexis Beard and Joel Bethel of Ankeny repeated as champions of the State
Co-ed Golf Tournament held at Otter Creek Golf Course, Monday. The
champions repeated their record round of 65 set a year ago to top 97 co-ed
teams.
Jill Marcum and B.J. Honnold of Clarinda were runner-up with a one-under
par 70. Marcum, who won the 2A state individual tile in June, teamed with brother Kyle
in 2001 to win the title. Rachel Hannigan and Tim Murphy of Boyer Valley, Dunlap finished
third with a 71.
The 18 hole meet was contested with alternate shot format. It was the 34th annual co-ed meet is co-sponsored by the Iowa Girls' High School Athletic Union and Iowa High School Athletic Association.
