3 PERSON BASKETBALL OFFICIALS CLINIC REQUIREMENT

(starting with the 2008-09 season)

New basketball officials are required to attend a state association-sponsored clinic within the three years of their initial registration. Also, any official wanting to be considered for tournaments is required to attend an IHSSA/IGHSAU state sponsored clinic within the next 3 years. You will have three years to meet this requirement. If you do not go this year, you would still be tournament eligible, but would need to attend in 2008, 2009 or 2010 to be considered for tournaments in 2010.

NO FEES WILL BE CHARGED FOR ATTENDING THESE IHSAA/IGHSAU STATE SPONSORED CLINICS AND THERE IS NO PRE-REGISTRATION. An IHSAA/IGHSAU basketball rules Meeting will also be provided with this clinic. When you attend the clinic, you will fill out an attendance sheet which will give you credit for a clinic AND a rules meeting.

Non-varsity officials (officials who are registered for lower level contests only) and officials not interested in working tournaments are not required to attend a clinic.

A rules meeting will be offered as part of the clinics, however, individuals must stay for both the clinic AND rules meeting to receive credit. Officials and coaches can not just attend the rules meeting portion of the clinic for rules meeting approval. IHSAA/IGHSAU state-sponsored clinics are the only clinics in which IHSAA/IGHSAU rules meetings would be provided.
