Rankings Posted Every
Thursday: Basketball rankings
will likely be released every Thursday. Look for the next set rankings to be
released November 29.
SEND IN YOUR SCORES: Once again, I will be posting a score list
during the week. E-mail your scores to Jason Eslinger at jasoneslinger@ighsau.org. Please be sure to include your teamÕs
record with each score and
feel free to include any noteworthy stats from your games. ALSO: Please add the Associated Press to your list of
people to report scores to. The AP does a national score list and is tracking
all Iowa High School girls and boys scores. Please call the APÕs 800 number
(800-300-8340) after all of your contests.
Check the website: The IGHSAU website is the best and fastest way
to check basketball-related news. While most news will be posted on the home
page, the basketball home page is the best place to look at scores, schedules,
news and rankings.
Quik Stats Iowa is
Back: QuikStats Iowa is now
live for the 2007-08 season. Coaches can now log on to put in rosters for the
upcoming season.
Like last season, submitting
stats requires a password. (No
password is required to go online and look at stats). Your schoolÕs password
hasnÕt changed from last season. It is also the same password your football, volleyball, track and softball
coaches used. You may want to ask
your fellow coaches for it if you canÕt locate or donÕt know your password or feel
free to email Jason Eslinger at jasoneslinger@ighsau.org
and IÕll send it to you.
QuikStats Iowa will be
the official online area for high school basketball stats. WeÕve made some improvements
to the online site; we now include offensive/defensive rebounds, box scores and
a cumulative stats section to name just a few. I think you will appreciate the
changes.
I say this every year: IÕd
like to see 100 percent participation. Seeing how every level of college and
professional sports statistics can be easily accessed online, it would be nice
to see IowaÕs high schools follow
suit. I know that working on computers isnÕt everyoneÕs cup of tea. If that is
the case, find someone that is computer-savvy – a student manager for
example – and have them put in the information. If everyone uses the system – everyone wins.
