ST. PAUL, MINN.
ST. PAUL--Lyndsy Owen, Jackie Beener and Kristin Keefe combined for a pair of shutouts as the Iowa Elite All-Stars swept Minnesota and Wisconsin in Tuesday's Tri-State all-star softball challenge.
Iowa topped Minnesota 1-0 in the opener. Owen, who pitched Waukee to last week's class 2A state championship struck out eight in her five innings of work before giving way to Des Moines East's Jackie Beener who picked up the win. Iowa scored its lone run in the seventh when Sally Allen (LeGrand East Marshall) walked and scored on a single by Sioux City East's Julie Koenigs.
Spencer's Amanda Hentges drove in both runs in the fourth inning of Iowa's 2-0 win over Wisconsin. Amy Kueker of Waverly-Shell Rock and Ashley Anderson (West Des Moines Dowling) both singled. Anderson was replaced by Laura Korth of Forest City who scored along with Kueker on Hentges big hit.
Clear Lake's Keefe picked up the win. The Iowa All-Stars were coached by Larry Heath, Burlington and Sue Hawkins, Audubon.

ANKENY HIGH SCHOOL
ANKENY--The Class 3A went 2-0 in the 16th annual Iowa Girls' Coaches Association softball all-star series Monday.
The large school stars topped class 2A 4-0 in a nine-inning contest and topped class 1A 8-5 in an offensive battle. Class 2A went 1-1 for the night with a 2-1 win over Class 1A behind the pitching of Waukee's Lyndsy Owen.
The Iowa Select team of thirteen players from the three teams will face all-star squads from Wisconsin and Minnesota on Tuesday in St. Paul, Minn.
Inducted into the IGCA Coaches Hall of Fame were Bob Bunting, Lisbon and Steve Schlafke, ADM.
Neal Schoepke, Indianola and the late Jim Ahrens, Clear Lake were inducted into the umpires Hall of Fame.

Clear Creek-Amana's Greta Nelson led off the seventh inning with a triple and scored on a wild pitch as the Class 2A softball all-stars topped 1A 2-1 Monday night at Ankeny.
The game was the first of a triple header in the 16th annual Iowa Girls' Coaches Association All-Star series.
The 2A took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when catcher Shelly Sleep of Anamosa doubled, took third on Clarinda's Amanda Sunderman's single and scored on a sacrifice fly by Natalie Dunagan (Sergeant Bluff-Luton)
Class 1A tied the contest with a solo run in the fourth. Jacque Moyer (Janesville) singled was sacrificed to second by Betsy Girsch (Don Bosco) and scored on a single by Interstate 35's Tiffany Seibert.
Girsch was on the only player on either team with two hits. Waukee's Lyndsy Owen, who pitched her team to the state 2A title on Friday was the winning pitcher. She struck out eight and walked none while pitching a three hitter.
Lisbon's Lindsey Jensen picked up the loss. She had five strikeouts and walked one.

The 3A all-stars scored four runs in the ninth inning for a 4-0 win over 2A in the middle game of the Iowa Girls Coaches Association all-star series.
After eight scoreless innings of a pitchers dual between Des Moines East's Jackie Beener and Kristin Keefe of Clear Lake, the game went to the international tie breaker with Julie Koenigs (Sioux City East) on second base. Koenigs scored on an error. Insurance runs were added on Liz Lawhorn's RBI single and a double by Amanda Hentges who drove in the last two runs
Clarinda's Amanda Sunderman had two of the three hits off winning pitcher Beener who struckout six and walked one. Keefe had eight strikeouts and walked none in a six hitter.

The 3A all stars completed a sweep with a 8-5 win over 1A in the nightcap. Liz Lawhorn (Muscatine) and Tara Flora (Webster City) had two hits each for the winners.
Amanda Hentges who had the big hit in the win over class 2A opened the winners scoring with a triple. .
Pam Betz of CAL-Dows was three of four for the class 1A stars.
