Courtney Crandell scored one goal and added one assist to lead Des Moines Roosevelt to a 3-1 victory over Sioux City in the first round of the Iowa Girls' State Soccer Tournament.

Crandell put the Roughriders on the board with a goal 18:30 into the match and set up Kelly Kehoe's goal seven and a half minutes later to give Des Moines Roosevelt a 2-0 lead at the half.

Maggie Malm added Roosevelt's final goal 6:30 into the second half. Sioux City Heelan's Brooke Niles added a late goal.

Rachael Witosky had five saves for Roosevelt, who improves to 15-2 and will play Dubuque Wahlert or Iowa City High in the semifinals Saturday at 9 a.m.

Sioux City Heelan end its season at 15-6.
