Sixth-ranked Iowa City West advanced to the Class 1A semifinals with a 1-0 shootout victory over No. 3 Bettendorf at the State Soccer Tournament.
Iowa City West won the shootout 4-3, with both teams using 10 shooters. Erica Clark's goal gave West the go-ahead goal while West goalkeeper Andrea Gebelein stopped Leslie Sullivan's shot to give West the victory.
The shootout victory marks the second-consecutive shootout the Women of Troy have competed in at state competition. They lost a shootout to Dubuque Wahlert 2-1 in last year's state title game.
