Class 2A State Championship Match

West Des Moines Valley 1, Pleasant Valley 0

West Des Moines Valley completed a perfect season with a 1-0 victory over Pleasant Valley in the Class 2A Soccer Championship in Muscatine Saturday.

The Tigers scored the match's only tally when Whitney Sharpe's goal from Lindsey Vorland gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead with 4:25 remaining in the first half.

Both teams played evenly in the second as Valley's stingy defense, which did not allow a goal in the tournament, held the Spartans in check.

The state title is the second in three years for the Tigers, who finish the year 20-0.

Pleasant Valley, making its first appearance in the state title match, ends its year at 17-4.
