Pleasant Valley 4, Cedar Falls 1
Pleasant Valley outshot Cedar Falls, 28-2, in posting a 4-1 victory over the Tigers in a Class 2A first round match at the Iowa Girls State Soccer Tournament in Muscatine.
The seventh-ranked Spartans were dominant, scoring their first goal 11:50 in the match on a Kelsey Arney goal. Teresa Prais added another goal 15 minutes later with Anna Aquino adding another goal with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. The Spartans added their final goal at the 62 minute mark with a goal from Lindsey Schwartz.
Cedar Falls scored its only goal in the second half when Kali Karsten scored on a Megan Hullermann assist.
Pleasant Valley improves to 16-3 and will face Johnston in the 2A semifinals Friday at 6:00 p.m. Cedar Falls ends its season at 11-6.
