West Des Moines Valley used a stifling defense to limit Iowa City West's explosive offense to just four shots as the top-ranked Tigers defeated the Women of Troy, 2-0, in the semifinals of the Class 2A Girls State Soccer Tournament in Muscatine.

West Des Moines Valley faces Pleasant Valley in the Class 2A championship match at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Deb Foss started the scoring for the Tigers with a goal from Deb Foss at the 32 minute mark. The Tigers added another goal in the second half when Alyssa Flamm scored on Michelle Marshall's assist in the 59^th minute.

Iowa City West, last year's Class 2A champ, ends its season at 14-5.
