Third-ranked Waverly-Shell Rock spoiled the state tournament debut for Denison-Schleswig as the third-ranked Go-Hawks posted a 3-0 victory over the Lady Monarchs in Class 1A quarterfinal action at the Girls State Soccer Tournament In Muscatine.

Chelsea Frye scored two goals while Leslie Wilson added two assists to lead Waverly-Shell Rock, who advance to the Class 1A semifinals for the second-straight year. Kaylee Benning scored W-SR's third goal of the match early in the second half.

Waverly-Shell Rock outshot Denison-Schleswig, 5-4 in the match with goalkeepers Natalie Erhardt and Megan Ludwig each recording four saves.

Waverly-Shell Rock (17-1) faces defending Class 1A champion Dubuque Wahlert in the Class 1A semifinals Friday at 4:15 p.m.
