Dubuque Wahlert won its third Girls State Soccer crown in four years with a 3-2 victory over Des Moines Roosevelt in the Class 2A championship game.
Danielle Oswald's long crossing shot 54:29 into the match gave the Golden Eagles the go-ahead goal while Lizz Gibbs added an insurance goal with just under 15 minutes remaining in the match.
Both teams got on the board quickly in the first half. Kristen Anglin gave Wahlert a quick 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal 2:36 into the match. The lead was shortlived as Courtney Crandell fired in a goal two minutes, six seconds later. Crandell was named captain of the 2A all-tournament team for the second-straight year.
Margot Courtney scored Roosevelt's final goal with 53 seconds remaining in the match.
Dubuque Wahlert ends its season at 16-2 while Des Moines Roosevelt, state runner-up for the second-straight year, finishes the year 14-2.
