Class 1A Semifinals- Cedar Rapids Xavier 3, Davenport Assumption 0


Bailey Dorrington scored two goals while Sara Clancy added two assists to lead Cedar Rapids Xavier to a 3-0 victory past top-ranked Davenport Assumption in the Class 1A semifinals.

The Saints will face second-ranked Dubuque Wahlert in the Class 1A Championship match at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Fifth-ranked Xavier dominated from the outset, scoring 28 minutes into the match when Morgan Showalter knocked a Clancy assist. Barrington added her first goal of the game with 3:50 remaining in the first half on another Clancy assist.

Barrington added her second goal of the match in the second half, teaming with Showalter with three minutes left in the match.

Xavier outshot Assumption 13-8 in the match.

Xavier improves to 15-5 and advances to its first-ever state championship match to face Dubuque Wahlert. The two teams met during the regular season with Xavier winning 2-1 in a shootout.

Davenport Assumption's two year reign as Class 1A champs ends. The Knights finish the year 13-5
