Class 1A first round - Pella 2, Gilbert 1


Freshman Starah Schuring scored two goals, including one three minutes into the second overtime to lead unbeaten and third-ranked Pella to a 2-1 victory over sixth-ranked Gilbert in the first round Class 1A first round game.

Schuring brought the Lady Dutch back from a 1-0 deficit, t;ying the score on an assist from Lara Van Wyk 54 minutes into the match. The two also teamed up in the overtime.

Jessie Dehne scored Gilbert's only goal with five minutes left in the first half.

The Tigers outshot Pella, 10-3 , in the match.

Pella advances to face Dubuque Wahlert in the 1A semifinals at 4:15 Friday. Gilbert ends its season at 16-3.
