Cedar Rapids Xavier 2, Norwalk 0

Top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier took 85 seconds to score the only goal it needed as the Saints advanced to the Class 1A championship match for the fourth-straight year with a 2-0 victory over fourth-ranked Norwalk.

Cedar Rapids Xavier (19-1) will face third-ranked Pella in the Class 1A championship match on field 3 at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Saints will be shooting for their second-straight state title and the third in four years.

Bailey Dorrington opened the scoring with the quick first period goal on a Morgan Showalter assist. Jena McDermott added Xavier’s second goal with 14:46 left in the first half.

Norwalk ends its season at 18-3.
