Cedar Rapids Xavier 5, Waverly-Shell Rock 1

Suzy Levett scored three goals while teammate Kathryn Mettenburg added two as top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier advanced to the Class 1A State Championship with a 5-1 victory over Waverly-Shell Rock Friday.

Mettenburg opened the scoring for the Saints, scoring 8:39 into the match. Levett scored her first goal with 3:45 remaining in the first half. Waverly-Shell Rock its lone goal 90 seconds later when Kayla Pickett scored.

Xavier outshot the Go-Hawks, 16-11, in the match. In addition to Mettenburg and Levett’s goals, Morgan Showalter assisted on all three of Levett’s goals while Allie Ungs assisted on one of Mettenburg’s goals.

Cedar Rapids Xavier will shoot for its third-straight Class 1A title Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
