Cedar Rapids Kennedy 2, Johnston 1

All-stater Jade Grimm scored one goal and set up Jessica Powers for the game-winner to propel second-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy to the Class 2A State Championship match for the third-consecutive year with a 2-1 victory over Johnston.

Grimm opened the scoring for the Cougars, scoring on a Kimmy Journot assist in 13:48 into the match. Johnston tied the score early in the second half when Carly O’Keefe scored on a nice assist from Nicole Postel.

Powers scored the game-winner with 8:15 remaining in the match.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy will face West Des Moines Valley in the Class 2A championship match for the third-consecutive year. Johnston ends its season at 13-6.
