Soccer Administrative Regulations
First
Practice: Monday,
March 22 (Week 38)
First
Competition: Monday, April 5 (Week 40)
Regional Tournament: Thurs.,
May 27 (1A), Tues., June 2 (1A & 2A), Wed., June 2 (2A), Fri., June 4 (1A),
Mon. June 7 (1A & 2A)
State
Tournament: June 10-11-12 @ Muscatine Soccer Complex (Week 49)
Scrimmages:
1, permitted at any time during the season
Jamborees: 1 per school consisting
of one 40 minute half. Permitted between
the date of the first practice and the date the school plays its first game.
Match
Limitations: 17 matches
Tournament Regulations: When
more than one varsity match takes place on a date, it constitutes a tournament
(Exception: double duals are legal and count as two
matches).
In the
regular season, it is permissible for the tournament manager to schedule two
30-minute halves subject to notification of both teams prior to the start of
the tournament.
No JV teams are allowed in varsity tournaments.
No limit on the number of teams in a tournament
No more than five (5) matches may be played in one tournament
No more than three (3) matches in a day during tournament
play.
Regularly scheduled regular season matches may not be part
of a tournament.
Individual Participation: There is no season match
limitation for an individual player. Individual player limitation may not
exceed six (6) halves in a calendar day.
Middle School Soccer: Middle
school programs are subject to the rules and regulations in place for the high
school team.
Eighth Grade Eligibility: Eighth
graders are not eligible to practice or play with the high school team.
Officials Registration: Any
official registered with the IHSAA (Iowa High School Athletic Association) is
eligible to register with the IGHSAU by paying the registration fee
only.
Any official not registered with the IHSAA must complete the open book
examination, attend/view a rule meeting and pay the registration fee. Any
official working any
high
school girls soccer match must be properly registered with the IGHSAU.
Tournament Officials: Officials
will be assigned to regional and state tournaments based upon the
recommendations member schools. To be eligible, an official must
attend/view
a rule meeting, be registered with the IGHSAU and complete the online
availability form.
New
beginning with the 2010 season: Officials must sign up for the online Òofficials lockerÓ at the IGHSAU
website and complete the tournament availability sheet online. All official
assignments for regional and state will be done online. Please contact the
IGHSAU if you have any problems or questions establishing the online officials
locker.
Head Varsity Coaches: All head varsity girls soccer coaches
are required to attend/view a soccer rules meeting each year. Failure to attend
will result in the varsity head
coach
not being allowed to coach during regional and state tournament series.
