CLASS 2A SEMIFINALS

Waukee 2, Pleasant Valley 1

Waukee scored two goals in a three minute span to advance to the Class 2A state championship match with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Pleasant Valley.

The second-ranked Warriors will face top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier at 1:00 p.m. Saturday for the Class 2A championship.

Waukee had to rally from a 1-0 halftime deficit. Pleasant Valley scored the first goal of the match when Kera Linn scored at the 28 minute mark. Alyssa Hewitt tied the score with an unassisted goal at the 48-minute mark with Hewitt providing the assist on Katy Canaugh’s go-ahead score at the 51-minute mark.

Waukee enters Saturday’s championship match with a 15-3 record while Pleasant Valley ends its year at 14-6.
