Second Tennis Memo
April 23, 2008
Coaching
During the 90-second Crossover and NO Timeouts
Timeouts are no longer
allowed. School-issued coaches can coach
their players during each 90-second crossover and during set breaks.
Coach/player interaction during the 90-second crossover and during set breaks
replaces the use of timeouts.
School coaches or teammates in uniform are the only ones permitted to
speak to players from the time they take the court to warm up for their match
until the match is over.
Also, coaches we ask that you do not slow down play and keep your conversations with your players within the 90-second crossover. The ball is to be served at the end of the 90-seconds so plan accordingly. Coaches if you experience a problem with a coach abusing this rule, please present your concern to the meet manager or the coach personally. If the problem is not corrected, report the violation to the state office, in which loss of privileges may occur.
Coach
Introductions Prior to the Meet
Please remember to have coaching
staffs introduce themselves to each other prior to the start of each
tournament/meet. It may also be
useful to have the coaches from each team introduced to the players of opposing
teams.
Regional
Pairings
The singles and doubles pairings are now posted on our website, with the team pairings to follow shortly. Please review the pairings and sites to ensure those affiliated with your school are aware of sites and hosting responsibilities.
Tennis
Balls
The IGHSAU provides tennis balls during the Regional Single/Double competitions. Your team is responsible for providing the tennis balls for your Regional Team competitions. Each year we have teams that fail to bring their own tennis balls. Please bring the required number of tennis balls to the Regional Team competitions.
Thank you and best of luck with the remainder of your season!
