HURDLE SPECIFICATIONS

HIGH SCHOOL

100 METER HURDLES---The distance from the starting line to the first hurdle shall be 13 meters (42 feet 7 ¾ inches) and the distance between the hurdles shall be 8.5 meters (27 feet 10 ½ inches). The distance from the last hurdle to the finish line shall be 10.5 meters (34 feet 5 ½ inches). There shall be a total of 10 hurdles used in the race.

400 Meter Hurdles---The distance from the starting line to the first hurdle shall be 45 meters and the distance between the hurdles shall be 35 meters. The distance from the last hurdle to the finish line shall be 40 meters. There shall be a total of 10 hurdles used in the race. (Optional—440 year hurdles—hurdle spacing shall be 49 yards, 8 inches to the first hurdle, 38 yards 10 inches between hurdles, and 46 yards 10 inches from the last hurdle to the finish line).

Shuttle Hurdle Relay---Each hurdler shall run a total of 102.5 meters (112 yards 2 inches). The distance from the starting line to the first hurdle and from the last hurdle to the finish line shall be 13 meters (42 feet 7 ¾ inches) and the distance between hurdles set at 8.5 meters (27 feet 10 ½ inches). Odd numbered lanes shall be assigned to the 1^st and 3^rd runners and even numbered lanes to the 2^nd and 4^th runners.

JUNIOR HIGH

SHUTTLE HURDLE RELAY---The relay shall have a starting and finishing distance (to the first and from the last hurdle) shall be 13 meters (42 feet 7 ¾ inches) and the distance between hurdles set at 8.5 meters (27 feet 10 ½ inches). There shall be seven hurdles used in the race.

Seven flight hurdles---The overall distance shall be 77 meters (84 feet 7 inches). The distance from the starting line to the first hurdle shall be 13 meters (42 feet 7 ¾ inches) with the distance between hurdles set at 8.5 meters (27 feet 10 ½ inches). The distance from the last hurdle to the finish line shall be 13 meters (42 feet 7 ¾ inches). There shall be seven hurdles used in the race.

200 METER HURDLES---The distance from the starting line to the first hurdle shall be 55 meters and the distance between hurdles set at 35 meters. The distance from the last hurdle to the finish line shall be 40 meters. There shall be a total of four hurdles used in the race. (Optional—220 yard hurdles)---hurdle spacing shall be 60 yards 22 inches to the first hurdle; 38 yards 10 inches between hurdles; and 46 yards 10 inches from the last hurdle to the finish line.
