2007 Iowa State Volleyball Tournament

Class 1A Championship – Saturday Nov. 10

Wapsie Valley 27-26-22-20-15, Holy Trinity Catholic 25-24-25-25-13

Round two of Wapsie Valley vs. Holy Trinity Catholic was just as classic as round one. The 1A finals rematch between the two schools was almost a mirror-repeat of last year, and the result was the same, as the third-ranked Warriors held off a furious Holy Trinity rally to top the Crusaders, 3-2, in the Class 1A final.

Last year Wapsie Valley rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win three-straight. This year it was Holy Trinity rallying from two games down to force a fifth game, only to have the Warriors hold on to win the deciding game; 15-13.

1A all-tournament captain Kamille Van Natta led Wapsie Valley with 21 kills and 26 digs while Carly Wehling added 13 and Eryca Hingtgen added 12.

Holy Trinity was led by Sara Fedler’s 21 kills while Emily Fullenkamp added 19 and Jessica Panther 16.

Wapsie Valley finishes the season 39-1 and will enter the 2008 season winners of 36-straight matches. Holy Trinity finishes an outstanding season with a 48-3 record.
