2007 Iowa Girls State Volleyball Tournament

Emily Heffernen’s 11 kills propelled top-ranked West Delaware to a 3-0 victory over unranked Harlan in Class 3A first round action at the Iowa Girls State Volleyball Tournament in Cedar Rapids.

The Hawks, last year’s 3A runner-up, hit .435 as a team, committing just six attack errors. In addition to Heffernen’s 11 kills, Tessa Reinig and Emily Havertape both added nine kills while Ashlee Allison had nine digs and five aces.

Harlan was led by Amber Leinin’s eight kills.

West Delaware now faces Sioux City Bishop Heelan in a rematch of last year’s 3A championship game Friday at 1:00 p.m.

Harlan ends its season at 15-23.
