Johnston 25-25-25, Cedar Falls 18-20-21

Johnston won its first-ever state volleyball champion with a dominating 3-0 performance over Cedar Falls in the Class 4A state championship.

The Dragons balanced attacked kept the Tigers at bay for the entire match. Taylor Knuth had nine kills to lead Johnston while Abby Sonner added eight kills and 18 digs. Johnston was also dominant at the net, recording 16 blocks to Cedar Falls’ one.

Nina Savage, the 4A all-tournament captain, led Cedar Falls with 16 kills while Caitlin Hagarty added 13. Johnston ends its year with a 40-2 record while Cedar Falls finishes the year 32-12.
