defending champion Tripoli showed why they are heavy favorites to win a
fourth-straight crown as the Panthers overwhelmed tournament newcomers
Woodward-Granger 25-1, 25-7, 25-13 in Class 1A first round play at the Iowa
State Volleyball Tournament Friday afternoon in Cedar Rapids.
Tripoli will face
Stanton or Boyden-Hull in the Class 1A semifinals Friday at 6:00 p.m.
Senior all-stater Megan Gilbert was dominant for Tripoli. The senior
smashed 27 kills in 38 attempts with just two errors (65.8 percent). The
Panthers held Woodward-Granger to just eight kills in the match and forced 20
attack errors (-.188). As a team, Tripoli had a kill efficiency of 51.5
percent.
Woodward-Granger ends
its season at 20-6.
