Lake Mills 25-25-25, Council Bluffs St. Albert 22-22-13

Josie Brackey and Shelby Kuper combined for 31 of Lake Mills’ 43 kills to lead the second-ranked Bulldogs to a 25-22, 25-22, 25-13 victory over state tournament newcomer Council Bluffs St. Albert Thursday night in Class 2A first round action.

Lake Mills, last year’s Class 2A runners-up, will face West Liberty or Dike-New Hartford in the Class 2A semifinals Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Brackey had 19 kills and 11 digs to lead the Bulldogs while Kuper contributed 12 kills as the Bulldogs, the state’s lone unbeaten team, improved to 45-0.

Katie Kuck and Kylie Ferguson both had eight kills to pace Council Bluffs St. Albert, who end the season at 30-10.
