Class 3A Semifinals

Waverly-Shell Rock 25-25-25, Union 21-21-23

For the second time in three years, Waverly-Shell Rock is back in the Class 3A title match. The Go-Hawks, powered by Morgan Kuhrt’s 27 kills, stopped Union 25-21, 25-21, 25-23 in the Class 3A semifinals Friday afternoon.

Waverly-Shell Rock faces Sioux City Bishop Heelan at 1:00 Saturday in the Class 3A title match. The two teams also squared off in the 2009 title match with Waverly-Shell Rock defeating Heelan in a five-set thriller.

In addition to Kuhrt’s 27 kills, Kinsey Caldwell added six kills and 34 assists.

Union was paced by Sam Barz’ 14 kills. The Knights end their season at 33-8.
