Iowa City West 25-25-23-15-15, Cedar Rapids Kennedy 18-18-25-25-7

For the third-straight year, Iowa City West and Cedar Rapids Kennedy battled five sets for the right to play in the Class 4A championship match. And for the third-straight year, the Women of Troy will be playing for a state championship.

The defending Class 4A champions held off a Kennedy rally to advance to the Class 4A title match with a 25-18, 25-18, 23-25, 15-25, 15-7 victory. Iowa City West faces Ankeny or Iowa City High in the Class 4A title match Saturday at 11 a.m.

The one-two punch of Shelly Stumpff and Olivia Fairchild led Iowa City West with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. The two also combined for 10 service aces.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy was paced by Alexus Rogers’ 17 kills while Allie Hutcheson added 15. The Cougars end the year at 30-10.
