Tripoli's quest for a third-straight Class 1A championship successfully started Thursday as all-state senior Alicia Johnson knocked down 24 kills to lead the top-ranked Panthers to a 25-16, 21-25, 25-14, 25-23 victory over 14^th-ranked New London.

Johnson, who signed a National Letter of Intent with Iowa Thursday, converted 24 of 26 kills attempts while collecting four service aces and 14 digs. Teammate Tiffany Nilges added 17 kills and a team high 5 blocks.

New London was led by Jackie Lerdel's 13 kills while Murphye Olsen added 11.

Tripoli advances to the Class 1A semifinals for the eighth consecutive year, where they will face Holy Trinity or North Kossuth at 6 p.m. Friday.
