CLASS 2A CHAMPIONSHIP
Aplington-Parkersburg 3, Western Christian 2
Top-ranked Aplington-Parkersburg rallied from a 2-0 deficit to dethrone four-time defending champion Western Christian, 24-26, 22-25, 25-21, 25-8, 15-12 in the Class 2A championship match.
The championship is the first-ever volleyball title for the Falcons, who were 2A runners-up last year.
Megan Schipper led the Falcons with 20 kills, six blocks and 16 digs. Becky Walters added 15 kills with eight blocks.
Western Christian was led by Haylee Bakker's 15 kills while Betsy Van't Hul added 11 and Kate Buyert and Brandee Schaap both had 10.
Aplington-Parkersburg finishes the year 40-2 while Western Christian ends up 44-7.
