CLASS 3A SEMIFINAL

Algona advanced to their first-ever trip to the Class 3A championship match with a 25-22, 18-25, 28-26, 25-19 victory over third-ranked ADM in a semifinal match played at the US Cellular Center Friday afternoon.

Hanna Simonson and Melanie Hackbarth both knocked down 16 kills to lead the second-ranked and unbeaten Bulldogs. Simonson also contributed 30 digs.

Emily Madden ended a stellar high school career with a match-high 23 kills in a losing effort for ADM.

Algona puts its umblemished 41-0 record to the test when the second-ranked Bulldogs face top-ranked Dubuque Wahlert in the Class 3A championship Saturday at 1:15 p.m.
