Ashley Lichtenberg had 20 kills and five solo blocks to lead sixth-ranked Bettendorf to a 22-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 victory over Des Moines Roosevelt in first round action in the Class 4A State Volleyball Tournament.

Bettendorf (26-7) shook off a 25-22 first game loss to win the next three with Lichtenberg and Abby DeVries leading the way. DeVries knocked in 11 kills with four blocks.

Des Moines Roosevelt (23-13), making its first-ever state volleyball appearance, was led by Sarah Leonard's 15 kills.
