Abby DeVries had 13 kills and five digs to lead sixth-ranked Bettendorf to a 25-23, 25-13, 25-22 victory over No. 5 Ames.

The win propels the Bulldogs into the state finals for the first time since finishing second at the 1980 tournament.

Bettendorf hit .279 as a team with DeVries hitting .344. Ashley Lichtenberg recorded 10 kills with 13 digs for Bettendorf.

Ames was led by Marissa Banks' nine kills while Jess Oster added eight.

Bettendorf faces defending champion Ankeny in the 4A finals Saturday afternoon at 1:15 p.m.
