CLASS 4A CHAMPIONSHIP

Ankeny 3, Bettendorf 2

Ankeny successfully defended its Class 4A title Saturday with a hard-fought 15-25, 25-17, 25-27, 25-19, 25-10 victory over Bettendorf.

Sarah Oexmann recorded 28 kills to lead the Hawkettes, who finish the year 38-2. Teammate Shannon Aschoff added 20 while Tammy Peter added 55 assists.

Bettendorf received a terrific effort of Ashley Lichtenberg, who knocked down 28 kills with five blocks and 15 digs. Bettendorf had 22 blocks in the match. The Bulldogs finish the year 27-8.
