Weekly Training Tip #16 - Deadlift
The deadlift is a great exercise to train total body strength and heavily recruit the posterior chain. Research has shown that exercises like the deadlift that begin from a dead stop with a concentric contraction have a large degree of carry over towards improvements in vertical jumping ability. The deadlift also improves back strength and teaches proper bracing patterns improving an athlete's ability to transfer force through their core. The deadlift is a good general strength builder for out of season athletes.
