Jim Albertson Named IGHSAU Soccer Coordinator of Officials

     The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union announced that it has named Jim Albertson as its Coordinator of Officials for soccer.

      “Jim will be a tremendous asset for soccer referees in Iowa,” said IGHSAU Executive Director Jean Berger. “He has been an active official on both the Iowa and national stages and brings great ideas and insight to this new position. I am happy to have Jim as part of our team.”

     Albertson will serve as the IGHSAU liaison for soccer officials in Iowa. He will be responsible for the identification, training, evaluation and selection of officials for the IGHSAU soccer postseason series. In addition to assigning, Albertson will work with official organizations, conference and local assigning groups and will be the primary contact for NFHS rule interpretations. 

     Albertson has been active in soccer since 1982 and has been working in Iowa since 1994. He is a registered official with the IGHSAU and IHSAA. He was the East Central Iowa Soccer Officials Association liaison to the Iowa Refereee Committee from 1994-to-1998. Following that, he was a referee administrator for the Iowa Referee Committee for 10 years. In that role, recruited, assessed and trained officials. He has also chaired the Iowa Soccer Association, the U.S. Youth Soccer Referee Advisory Group and finished a four-year term as a member of the U.S. Soccer Federation Referee Committee.
