Waterloo's Cadillac Lanes to Host 2018 Iowa State Bowling Tournament

Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo will serve as the host site of the 2018 State Bowling Meet February 19-21. The move to Waterloo comes after Des Moines’ Plaza Lanes, home of the State Bowling Meet since girls bowling was sanctioned by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union in 2007,  was destroyed by a December 18 fire.      “We are pleased that the proprietors at Cadillac Lanes have made their facility available for the State Bowling Meet,” said IGHSAU Executive Director Jean Berger. “Cadillac Lanes’ size will allow the co-ed meet to continue with no changes in the format from previous tournaments while accommodating all of the fans. We appreciate the help that the Bowling Proprietors’ of Iowa provided as we searched for a new site to host this tournament.”     Cadillac Lanes, located at 650 LaPorte Road in Waterloo, is a 36-lane facility. The space and number of lanes will allow the boys and girls team to bowl simultaneously.      The State Bowling Meet is a three-day event that begins with the Class 1A Tournament taking place on Monday, February 19. Class 2A will bowl Tuesday, February 20 and the Class 3A State Meet will take place Wednesday, February 21. Start time for all three meets is 10:00 a.m.      The move to Waterloo is currently for one year.  The State Bowling Meet plans to return to Des Moines’ Plaza Lanes when it is rebuilt.
