October  Swimming & Diving Memo

I hope this memo finds your season going well. It boggles my mind that mid-October is next week already.  I wanted to thank all of the coaches for doing such a great job getting your meets into QuikStats/Varsity Bound in such a timely manner. I think the state qualifier standard lists have been up-to-date for most of the season and I have tried to recognize every swimmer that has reached standards on our Twitter account. If I've missed anyone, please let me know.

It has been a relatively quiet season from this office but I know that things will get ramped up with conference meets and regional contests on the horizon. With the end of the season right around the corner, I'd like to remind you of a few things.

Regional Diving Numbers Needed: Regional sites have been finalized and regional team assignments will be posted next week  I would like to see the number of divers competing in this year's meets before I announce the diving locations. Please email me the number of divers you expect to compete in regional competition at [email protected]. I do not needs names, just a number. Remember, all divers must have a verified 11-dive score in QuikStats to enter regional diving competition this year. 

Diving Verification Sheet: A revised diving sheet was posted earlier in the season, but there have been a few instances where coaches have downloaded the old diving sheets. The updated verification sheet can be found on the IGHSAU website under the Swimming & Diving Coaches & Administrators section. Scroll down to the forms and documents and you will see the revised diving sheet. Regional Swimming & Diving Manual Available: Information on the regional swimming and diving competition can be found in the 2019 Swimming and Diving Regional Manual. This can also be found in the Swimming & Diving Coaches & Administrators section on the IGHSAU website. Please take some time to read this over.

Tuesday, October 29
Regional Diving Warm-up schedules will be posted on the IGHSAU website. 
Wednesday, October 30
Diving sheets are due and must be emailed to your meet manager
Swimming Online Entries are due at 4:00 p.m. Team entries are to be submitted and declared using the online entry form. Coaches will be emailed psych sheets of their entries Wednesday evening. Coaches must email Jason Eslinger at [email protected] to verify that they have received those psych sheets. 
Hy-Tek meet files will be sent to regional diving sites.
Thursday, October 31

A tentative list of State Diving qualifiers will be posted Thursday evening
Friday, November 1
Regional Hy-Tek meet files will be sent to regional sites
Saturday, November 2
Regional Swimming
A tentative list of state qualifiers will be released Saturday evening.

State Swimming & Diving Schedule: The schedule has changed for 2019 State Swimming and Diving Meet. State Diving will be held Friday, November 8 at 11 a.m. with the state prelim meet starting at 5:00 p.m. Friday. State Swimming finals will begin at noon on Friday, The full schedule can be viewed by clicking here.

New for State Meet Spectators (Please share this with parents planning to attend the State Meet): The IGHSAU staff has been analyzing the spectator lines the last few years. In that time, there have been issues with spectators in the lines, culminating in fights that have required police assistance. Because of these issues, spectators will no longer be allowed to camp, set up tents or form lines before the start of Friday and Saturday's meets.  All placeholders, such as chairs and tents, will be confiscated if found on the YMCA/YWCA grounds.  Spectators can begin lining up for admission into the natatorium 20 minutes prior to the admission gates opening. Campers/RV's will be allowed to park in the lot east of the electronic message center at the YMCA/YWCA. A reminder that the IGHSAU will be using GoFan Digital Huddle for spectators wishing to purchase tickets in advance. Spectators utilizing GoFan will be able to enter the natatorium 30 minutes before fans purchasing tickets on site. The timeline for lining up for all three sessions will be as follows: 
Friday, November 8
11:00 a.m. State Diving - There will be single line that opens at 10:00 a.m. Spectators may get in line at 9:40 a.m. for admittance. 
5:00 p.m. - State Prelim Meet - There will be two lines. Spectators with GoFan tickets may begin lining up for entrance at 3:10 p.m. with admittance at 3:30 p.m. Spectators purchasing tickets on site may begin lining up for admittance at 3:40 p.m. with doors opening at 4:00 p.m.

Saturday, November 9
12:00 p.m. State Swimming Finals - There will be two lines. Spectators with GoFan tickets may begin lining up for admittance at 10:10 a.m. with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. Spectators purchasing tickets on site may begin lining up at 10:40 p.m. with admittance beginning at 11:00 a.m.
