Congratulations again on qualifying for the team and/or individual state championships next week.

New this year there is a limit on the capacity at Maple Lanes. Last year there was concern of the capacity being over fire code. With that being said teams will not be given free entrance into the individual tournament if a school has both a team and individual qualify.

In order to accommodate coaches and schools, teams are allowed a maximum of 2 coaches.

Individual: Coaches with one bowler are allowed one coaches pass per gender. Teams with two or more bowlers will receive two coaches passes per gender. All other coaches must purchase a ticket for admittance. If you are coaching an individual girl and an individual boy, you are allowed two coaches passes.

DAILY SCHEDULE RUNDOWN – Both team and individual
Arrive, check-in, photos for boys’ qualifiers, assemble for brief meeting at 8:35 in bag storage area, parade, intro of bowlers, seed play, brief break, bracket play.

GENERAL FORMAT
State Team Tournament:
The eight teams will bowl 15 baker games. Teams will move one pair of lanes to the right after every 5 baker games. The total pins after 15 games would determine bracketing (1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5). Teams will then play a best three of five baker games to advance to the semifinals and finals. The champion and runner-up will be determined. In addition, a consolation match will be bowled to determine third and fourth place.

Individual Tournament: All 32 qualifiers will bowl three individual games. Individuals will move one pair of lanes to the right after every game. The top eight finishers will then be bracketed (1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5) and bowl one game. The winners will advance to the semifinals and finals, where the champion and runner-up will be determined. In addition, a consolation match will be bowled to determine third and fourth place.

BRACKET PLAY FORMAT & BREAKING OF TIES
Individuals – PBA format starting on left lane

Highest seed chooses who goes first and that person bowls one frame from left lane and then it is 2 frames each bowler alternating lanes with the bowler who started going last in the 10th frame.

Individual ties are a 9th-10th frame tiebreaker just as was in place for SQM. Tiebreakers will only be used to determine who advances.

Team format is 3 of 5 – a team has to win 3pts to advance, so if ties occur each team receives a half point. If tie still exists after 6th game, then teams would bowl a half game utilizing frames 6-10. If a tie still exists after that then a shootout would occur with one player and one ball from each team (5 bowlers).
